Lithium hydride is the hydride of lithium. It is a colorless crystal, generally with impurities and grayish white. Lithium hydride is a salt-like hydride with a high melting point and thermal stability. Thermal conductivity decreases with increasing temperature and varies with composition and pressure. Lithium hydride is flammable and reacts violently with water to form corrosive lithium hydroxide and hydrogen. Not generally a hydride reducing agent, except in the synthesis of certain metalloid hydrides. For example, silane can be chemically reacted from lithium hydride and silicon tetrachloride through the Sundermeyer process.
Main application areas:
1. Used as desiccant, hydrogen generating agent, organic synthesis reducing agent, etc.
2. It is used as a source of hydrogen generation in the military. Organic synthesis is used as reducing agent.
3. Lithium hydride is used as a condensing agent, reducing agent, alkylating agent, desiccant in organic synthesis, and is also a good hydrogen storage material.
4. Lithium deuteride in lithium hydride is the source of deuterium fused in hydrogen bombs.
5. Superhard material cubic boron nitride catalyst.
6. New energy chemical lithium battery anode material.
